Can you really make money with surveys?

This is one I really want to touch base on. I have seen many blogs about making money with surveys and how much money they are making. So I decided to find out for myself if there really is money to be made with surveys.

The answer is Yes and NO. Great answer right? Let me explain. You can make money with surveys, but probably not as much as you think. I have signed up on several sites and have found that the way people are making larger amounts of money is by completing trial offers. In other words, you have to give a credit card number to take part in the trial and get paid by the survey company. You may even be sent a product to "try" in which case you may also have to pay for the shipping. IF you FORGET to CANCEL the trial, you will incur fees that are sometimes as much as $100 on up. Too risky for me. I have a busy house and even writing stuff down, chances are I would forget to cancel my "trial" and send my bank account into a tailspin.

These same sites do have 100% FREE offers, usually goofy little quizzes and short surveys. Most people do the quiz and realize that to get to the test results you have to sort through a few pages of "offers" to get to the end. I have figured out that you can get your credit to your survey account without having to bombard your email with products and offers that you will never use. You just have to pay closes attention to the directions for that particular survey. I also do the paid emails (also called GPT) where an email is sent, it is read, confirmed and I get paid for it. Its not a lot (the most I have been paid for an email is $0.50) but it does ad up. I also do full surveys that are emailed to me. They take anywhere from 15 to 40 minutes and pay $1 on up if you qualify for the entire survey. Lately I have qualified for quite a few, which has never happened before. (I'm not complaining as $5 here or there is a nice little perk)

There are also survey companies that work on a point system. For each survey you complete, you are given points. Points can be redeemed for gift cards, cash or prize. These are pretty decent, however, be prepared for it to take a while to get enough points for a bigger "prize."

In short there are a few companies that I will share with you to check out. The cash out amounts vary, but it could be worth it for play money. Maybe a dinner date? A Movie? Whatever you want to use it for, just don't get your hopes up that you will make tons of cash this way. Not unless you are willing to do trial offers. The blog after this one will have some links to a few of the sites I use. You are under no obligation to sign up. I just want to give you an idea of what some of these sites are. Payout information is usually under the FAQS section.
